Divine Gardening: Unveiling the Beauty of Dharma and Devotion
Once, in a serene and divine temple surrounded by the beautiful garden of Manasa Vana, nestled at the foothills of the sacred Himalayas, there lived an old, humble gardener named Maali. Maali took care of the garden with unwavering devotion. This place was renowned for its divine beauty and tranquility.
Each day, Maali performed the same rituals: he cleaned the weeds, pruned the plants, and nurtured the flowers. Manasa Vana, resplendent with vibrant colors and soothing fragrances, was a living testament to his dedication.
One auspicious morning, a wandering Rishi arrived at Manasa Vana. Drawn by the garden’s ethereal beauty, the sage entered and was mesmerized by its harmonious splendor. The sage, having visited Manasa Vana many years ago, was astounded to find the garden as pristine and enchanting as ever.
Overcome with curiosity, he approached Maali, who was diligently taking care of a bed of lotuses.”Namaste, Maali,” the Rishi greeted. “I visited this garden long ago when you were young and even now, I witness the same divine freshness and beauty. How is it so? Do you not tire of performing the same tasks every day?” Old Maali folded his hands in reverence and replied, “Namaste, Rishi. What you see is not mere repetition, but a manifestation of dharma and passion. Each day I rise with the dawn, eager to witness the divine play of nature. The flowers, though seemingly the same, reveal new facets of beauty with each passing day. It is said in the Upanishads, ‘Tat Tvam Asi’ — ‘Thou art that.’ I see a part of the divine in each petal, each leaf, and each blade of grass.”
Rishi listened intently as Maali continued,
“In this sacred duty, I find my yoga — the union with the divine. The Bhagavad Gita teaches us, ‘Yogastha Kuru Karmani’ — ‘Perform your duties established in yoga.’ By removing the weeds, I am not just cleansing the garden but also my own mind. Each act of nurturing is an offering to the divine, a step towards realizing the inner Self. It is through this continuous sadhana that the garden flourishes, and so does my soul.”
The Rishi’s eyes sparkled with profound understanding. “Indeed, Maali, it is your dharma and your unwavering devotion that breathe life into this Manasa Vana. You do not merely tend to plants; you engage in a sacred act of creation and preservation, aligning with the cosmic rhythm.” Old Maali nodded.
“Yes, Rishi. Each day is a new beginning, a fresh opportunity to serve and connect with the divine. By focusing on the inherent beauty and potential of each moment, I transcend the mundane and embrace the eternal. As the Upanishads say, ‘Sarvam Khalvidam Brahma’ — ‘All this is Brahman.’ In every flower, I see Brahman, the ultimate reality, and it fills my heart with boundless joy and purpose.”
Rishi, deeply moved by Maali’s wisdom, blessed him and departed with a heart enriched by Maali’s profound insights. He realized that true fulfillment lies in recognizing the divine in everyday tasks and approaching life with passion and dedication.
Thus, Maali’s Manasa Vana remained an epitome of divine beauty and a source of inspiration for all who visited. His unwavering devotion and profound understanding of dharma reminded everyone that by seeing the sacred in the everyday and in everyone, one could lead a life of eternal joy and enlightenment. And so, Maali’s story, inspire with the timeless wisdom of the Upanishads, continued to inspire generations, urging them to find their own path of dharma and embrace the divine beauty in every moment.
